The Maldon Festival

The historic town of Maldon will come alive this September as theMaldon Festival of Music, Arts & Culture returns with its most ambitious programme to date, bringing together over 50 free and ticketed events across music, theatre, visual arts and heritage.

Venues across the town will be transformed – from the historic High Street and riverside Promenade Park to churches, galleries, cafés and community spaces – creating a vibrant celebration of creativity for residents and visitors alike.

The Festival also begins with two special preview events in July. On 17 July, a 27-strong Italian Renaissance choir, Coro Monti Azzurri, will perform at St Mary's Church, Maldon, followed by a Charity Quiz Night on 31 July, raising funds to support the Festival.

This year's programme also aligns with Heritage Open Days and the Maldon Art Trail, creating one of the largest coordinated celebrations of culture ever held in the town. The Festival opens with a packed evening of live music at The Solero Lounge, The Black Rabbit and Madison Heights featuring Dean Frost, RAZ, Bazuker, Doc Scholt & Rebecca Mo and Steamhouse. More events are still being added. Throughout the Festival audiences can also enjoy classical concerts, opera, folk, jazz, blues, country music, theatre and family performances and wonderful local art in venues including the magnificent St Mary's Church.

Festival celebrations continue throughout the opening weekend with the Maldon Regatta on Saturday 12 September, before one of Essex's largest free motoring events arrives on Sunday - the Maldon Classic Car Show. Set against the stunning backdrop of Promenade Park and the River Blackwater, the Show will feature more than 500 classic vehicles, including over 20 Ferraris, alongside artisan food producers, trade stands, live music throughout the day and family entertainment. Entry is free for spectators.

The Festival continues with an exciting programme of headline concerts and special performances, including The Mighty Bosscats on Saturday 19 September celebrating the launch of their brand-new 18th album, packed with soaring melodies, rich harmonies, and masterful musicianship. Blending country, folk, blues and rock into their own distinctive sound, this acclaimed band promises an afternoon set of heartfelt songs and outstanding live performances. Also performing will be Florence Sommerville, fresh from acclaimed performances at Nashville's legendary Bluebird Café and major UK festivals including Latitude, performing songs from her forthcoming debut albumEndless Horizon. International classical performers, opera, theatre productions, contemporary music, outdoor performances and community events during the Festival.
